My
works of
Naked
Steel Sculptures
are all using every day mild steel that I worked with for
many years in the oil and gas industry. So often steel is
looked upon as just a commodity that is strong and cold and
plain gray, or even black and rusty and dirty. But I have
seen the beauty and often the grace and elegance that steel
can be formed into. In my work, I have tried to capture that
flowing strength and grace, as well as the linear grain that
is within that cold gray matter. With
Naked Steel Sculptures,
as in "uncovered" and "in its natural beauty," I have tried
to avoid covering the steel with anything so one may see
that beauty that I have endeavored to capture. But a clear
coating has been applied to preserve against rust and for
the fact that my work will deteriorate if this coating is
damaged. So, if one is to leave a piece outside, it needs to
be protected from the direct sunlight and elements so as to
minimize adverse effects. Please enjoy!
